Surely that way lies madness.  If NZLUG gets N (seemingly 2-3)
announcements for every LUG meeting in New Zealand, and there are in
the order of a couple of dozen LUG meetings in New Zealand (eg, 3 in
the wellington region alone), then the NZLUG list will get one or more
posts every day (on average) announcing some random user group meeting
in some random location you can't get to.

Wouldn't it be better to stick to announcing such things to people who
have already expressed an interest?  And keep any mention on NZLUG to a
"you can go here to find out about user group meetings".  People without
PDAs to remind them can presumably subscribe to whatever existing
announcement service there is.
