If the venue has the parking & setup for PCs (screens, keyboards, lan, etc) I
don't have a problem. As we are hoping people bring PC's, I'd prefer they
didn't need to bring monitors, and can park within a comfortable distance for
lugging a PC around.
If you can book it & the venue is appropriate, let me know ASAP so I can let
Silicon know....

That was the thing I meant :-)

Last year I ran around all the DSE stores (Vivian St, Manners Mall, Featherston
St, Porirua & Lower Hutt & installed Knoppix on a DSE laptop to run the
presentation. Using a LiveCD with the presentation auto starting is much
simpler.
Which I guess shows I have learned summat since the last 'fest :-)

Hmmm... In that case, how come the Ian of Deb & Ian has been quoted as saying
something like every copy of Ubuntu installed is a nail in the coffin of true
Debian? Or is this a misquote/misrepresentation?

I know Linux is largely about choice, but too many options for someome ignorant
about Linux is more likely to cause confusion than be useful. If someone can
clearly say why Fedora is a better option than any of the other three, fair
enough, but this should be about what is best for the punters rather than a
chance to push our individual preferences. But I do concede that if we have a
knowledgable, enthusiastic installer, they should be able to install :-)
So I think 3 distros is enough, but that's just my opinion, feel free to
disagree & debate it. Just note that we should be able to distinguish between
the distros in the blurb, so installees can choose what they'd prefer without
distro zealots choosing for them.

OK... any volunteers?
I have a printer wot prints CD's, maybe we spend last year's $$ on ink & disks
- (a last resort option)
