Sure.  Asking for people to sell it to you would be a problem.  Asking
for someone to suggest what card to get is fine; learning from other
people's experiences is after all the point of the group.

PS: The Linux software RAID is pretty good these days, and I'd recommend
    using it over most cheap PATA/SATA "hardware" RAID cards.  (The
    performance is usually better than even cheap real hardware RAID
    cards like the cheaper 3Ware ones.)
