Gidday...

This is now confirmed for Silicon in Petone, (same as last two) on 24th Sept
(Sat after elections).

Having got that much agreed, I'll chase up DSE/Novell/Dymocks for sponsorship
stuff again.

Jamie B is sorting out publicity, so can we get people around the greater Wgtn
area to get notices up a week or two in advance in local noticeboards, computer
shops, etc.

I'll look after Wainui, volunteers for other areas please?

We also need more people for installers (some Debian/Knoppix, PCLOS, Suse &
Mandriva people have already volunteered, does anyone want to support another
distro?)

Anyone with contacts for burning/printing DVD's, please chase them up.

We generally felt that DVD's would be easier than 3-5 CD's, but I figure a
number of systems will be there with no DVD drive, so some CD sets will prob be
needed.

We plan to run the presentations again (allow 20 mins or so per slot with 10
mins for questions/changeover.

We'll need an intro to Linux & Open Source one, which I can do again if no one
else is interested. If there is time I'll also do the Wgtn GIS LiveCD.

Given the latest Netguide, a Firefox/Thunderbird presentation, showing popups
disabled & tabbed browsing, non-popup find, etc., along with a discussion on
basic security (not just firewalls/anti-virus etc, but using more secure/less
vulnerable systems & applications. Volunteers??

I figure a meeting with those interested in help organise will be a good idea,
it was helpful last time. Maybe in a couple of weeks??

Suggestions/comments?
