I think Brent & Ewen have summed up the meeting well.

My thoughts on NZLUG's wish for NZLUG mailing list to be adopted as a truly
national linux mailing list:
1) For regions where there is already an active local mailing list it is
unlikely that many people are going to migrate from a community of people
they know to NZLUG - if they can't get the info they want from the local
list there are thousands of other lists and websites to go to, what is the
attraction of NZLUG? So from a pragmatic point of view NZLUG is only
slowly going to attract subscribers from regions with strong local support.
2) Equally those currently on NZLUG have little reason to move to a
regional group list (eg AuckLUG)

therefore the subscriber catchment of NZLUG mailing list is going to remain
much as it is.

Tux and a Kiwi, why didn't I think of that ? Mark endearingly described
some fools efforts at a wiki logo as "a couple of balls with sticks", Ewen
looked at me and I mumbled something about I thought the idea was to come
up with logo concepts rather than perfect works of art ;-)
