hi all,
NZOSS is mentioning organising software freedom day. (Sep 16th)
Should we start thing about installfest 2006? Brent, are you still
interested in being the installfest's "Supreme Overlord"?
If we run it after software freedom day, we can get the groups on
software freedom day to give out flyers about the installfest.
I'm happy organising the following (and possibly more as we think of
it):
- advertising
- distro downloads
- presentations (intro to wellylug & OSS, and anything else I think of)
- (on the day) CD Burning
If we start planning it with plenty of time before hand, it should be
easier to get free advertising (such as in the papers, or mags like
PCWorld)
We also need to think about what distros to offer. I think we should
offer the following:
- Ubuntu/Kubuntu (debian fix & good for newbies)
- Mandrake.
- SuSe (good for newbies)
- Knoppix (liveCD)
- PCLinuxOS (liveCD)
We could also have the ISO's for:
- CentOS
- Slackware
- your_distro_here
This could be burned on request for anyone.
what do you all think? Also, who is interested in helping this year?
cheers,
--
