My .02 .... as a first comment...
I'm happy to be involved, but may not actually be around Wgtn then, won't know
for sure for a few weeks, but I can certainly help organise.
We did agree to run the 'fest in conjunction with SF day. I think WLUGr's need
to decide whether we are better off running everything on one day, or using SF
day as an event to publicise the installfest. I prefer the latter...
So for SF day, we set up the DSE boxes with the advertising presentation, give
out the Ubuntu/SF CD's, organise posters around the place, then actually run
the Fest the next weekend. Otherwise I feel we have two semi-competing events,
both in terms of supporters and attendees.
The 'fest also provides a very timely resource for all those who grab CD's on
SF day & wanna ask questions or follow it up.
As a historically successful WLUG event, perhaps with NZOSS support, I think we
need to sort out what approach those who are willing to be involved actually
prefer, then see how we can fit that in with other initiatives.
If we agree on a date, then we'll need to sort out a venue. I believe Silicon
will be happy to be involved again, & will prob lay on a feed like last year,
but if anyone else has an alternative, please let us know so we can disuss the
options.
We need to get this planned a good month in advance, so we can set up free
radio advertising etc....
We also need to sort out what role the NZOSS will have, tho with at least 4 (I
think) NZOSS comittee members also local & WLUG members, we should have a
pretty good voice there :-)
Cheers,
Brent
