Not a problem as far as the host of the website is concerned, but I should 
point out that when I set-up the wlug_trade list I also setup a phpBB 
buy/sell website, people voted with their feet (or maybe fingers) and 
subscribed to the list rather than using the website. ... Maybe it was just 
my poor website :-(

But most members don't seem to visit the website often, a mailing list 
means you don't miss out (assuming you're subscribed) otherwise you'd have 
to visit the website everyday to avoid missing those bargains (or maybe the 
website could email you when there were new posts, or maybe it could just 
email you the actual posts ... and call it a mailing list ;-)

If you want to sell something and get reasonable money for it, go for the 
biggest audience (trademe :-), if you want to sell things to the deserving 
poor or give them away tell those who show their interest by subscribing to 
a buy/sell mailing list :-)
