workplace.



FYI,

I wandered in to Silicon to check things out today. They will have 4 boxes set
up for demo's as well as one for presentations & demo installs.

I'll set up a Kubuntu, Ubuntu, SLED & an MS Windows box with Firefox & Open
Office to be demos on Friday, and get some books from Dymocks again.

There will be internet access, if needed to access drivers, etc. Jethro will
have a box as a proxy server with outside access, acting as a DHCP server (but
NOT router) for the separate install subnet. We should also have access in the
presentation room, so the demo installs can also demo updating & package
finding if required.

Note: We will NOT have access to the server build area (where the people came
in through last time), instead the access will be via the stairs, up from the
front door & then into the presentation room or down again to the install area.
Not quite as convenient, but they are doing some extended server burnins &
don't want to shutdown or move some systems.




Presenters, the only system Silicon is providing is a new one for demo
installs, so we'll need a laptop or something (Jethro?) to use as a box for
presentations (at least before the first demo install :-)

Your only chance to win this year's flat screen is if you turn up, so let's see
you there!!! Please let Jethro know if you plan to turn up so he/Peter can make
sure we all have name tags.
