[wlug_org] [nzlug] Richard Stallman Visit Update: (fwd)

Heya all,

It may work in with the Unlimited Potential Gadgets, Games and Geeks
evening. <http://UP.org.nz/gadgets-games-geeks-08/>
RMS would definitely cater for the geek side of things - so if he was
available in Wellington on the evening of 13th August (TBC) - we can
likely have 200+ people for him to talk to? Last year we had Glynn
Foster from Sun MicroSystems speaking on Sun’s Project Indiana for
the geek side of things - and I think that went down well...?

However, we can likely only fit a max 30ish minutes in - and I'm sure
a longer talk would be welcomed. I wonder if we can find a nearby
room in the Wellington Convention Centre/Town Hall for a longer talk?
GGG runs from about 15:30-22:00 (scheduled 17:30-20:00, but we have
keen people, and free food and drink) - so we could possibly run a
talk earlier that was longer? Or have a teaser presentation to the
wider UP membership and GGG attendees with a full presentation at a
later date?

I see the 13th is booked for travel all day - we could sort a
sponsored 45 minute flight from Akl to Wlg to free up some time?

Give me a bell and email me an info pack - and I'll see what we can
sort out.
