more newbie questions.

Thanks to all for the replies so far.

I have managed to download Star Office.

How do I go about installing it? It has the extension of .bin, which
I assume to mean binary, but what do I do with it now?

Can I rename it to .rpm and let kpackage install it?

Im ok at using the cli, as I come from a vms background before I started
playing with pcs. ITs just that UNIX commands are not very intuitive.

I mean, how obvious is it to type man for help? On vms you type help.
If you want to copy a file type copy. I guess it is what you get used to ;-)

This is why gui's are so important for the majority of people that I know.
Still, I am pretty impressed with this Mandrake distro, I haven't booted
to windows in a week now. It is still annoying how x windows don't do
what you want. netscape etc, going to sleep on you.


DO I need to worry about firewall software, and if so, where do I get it?
I assume now that email virus's are a windows thing now?
I had a look at KDE for xdownload but couldn't find it. Is there a download 
manager for linux?
Is freeciv a multiplayer game only?
where is a good website for linux games?

PS Next thing to do, it to retry getting linux working on my ps2
and use it in a network with dial on demand.
