xdownloader URL:
http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo/scrsht.php3

if you want a KDE specific one, try the following URL:
http://apps.kde.com/na/2/search?query=download+manager&qtype=qtypeany&versions=any

I expect it's a shell script that will unpack itself and do a custom install..
To find this out, try doing a cat filename | head

if you see something like #!/bin/sh
it's a shell script. Otherwise, you could always just try running it (if
it's not a script, you will only get an error message) To run it type:

sh filename

Only if the file is infact an RPM. Where did you download it from, and did
they say it was an RPM?

GUI's are important, because there is a lot of learn. The commands are
simply what you are used to. If you want, you can always customise your
login so that help = man, etc... but I understand your point. The only
explaniation I can give for it is, that unix has been around way before
Microsoft DOS, and has not changed to fit a different operating system.
(no flames please... that's only my view)

Can you detail what is going to sleep?

How much do you leave your computer online? if you are on a dial up, and
only run online for a few hours at a time, the chances of getting attacked
are lower... However, if permently connected, I would suggest turning on
IPchains, which is the firewall software that comes with Linux.

> I assume now that email virus's are a windows thing now?
Most e-mail virus's are written to run on the Windows operating system yes,
and Linux does not suffer from the problems that windows creates. You can
only possible have a problem if you receive an attachment that is Linux
specific, and you choose to run it. However, that will be really difficult
for you to do.

> Is freeciv a multiplayer game only?
No, you can play against the computer to, although it is typically boring to
do so. To use freeciv, you need to start a freeciv server as well, and then
configure the server to have a few computer players, then connect as a
client.. once you have connected (and anyone else you want to be playing)
start the server.

You can find help on how to do this by looking in
/usr/share/doc/freeciv-1.11.4

but the basic idea would be
start the freeciv server
enter: set aifill = 3
start the freeciv client and connect
go back to the server and
enter: start
