Hi OSS dudes/dudettes,
It gives me pleasure to announce the release of TagWriter.
WTF is TagWriter?
It's an easy but powerful set of classes for creating dynamic HTML content
using Python.
If you're like me - getting fed up with PHP, and drooling over Python's
capabilities, you'll love this package. It's easy, super-flexible,
extensible, lets you separate content from code (or not, according to your
choice), and supports you in writing very compact but intuitively readable
code.
I originally wrote it for PHP, but I'm now working to wean myself from PHP and
onto Python, and plan to use these classes myself to write a PHP-Nuke
compatible (or incompatible) CMS in Python.
I looked at all the available dynamic HTML modules for Python, and found them
unsuitable - so I wrote TagWriter (and ripped a coupla bits from WebWare), to
fulfil the following requirements:
* ease of writing short readable code
* ease of extending, subclassing
* flexibility of use
* able to run under Apache, and not require a persistent python service
* able to run as CGI
* not require any extra software to be installed on host
* not require root permission on host
* able to run standalone, or under WebWare environment
TagWriter is released under the GPL.
Online doco: http://www.freenet.org.nz/misc/tagwriter.
Tarball, incl doco+examples: http://www.freenet.org.nz/downloads/TagWriter.tgz
These locations may change if I create a SourceForge project. (Isn't there a
SourceForge-like thingy on NZOSS?)
Comments, suggestions, bug fixes, feature requests etc welcome.
Enjoy!
Cheers
David
