My guess is that your biggest problem will be getting the iHug sat
card working under Linux. They provide this:
<http://www.ihug.co.nz/help/ultra/linux_drivers.html>

But that is only stated to work for 2.0 and 2.2 kernels, and you won't
find those in the up-to-date e-Smith/Redhat/Mandrake/SuSe
distributions.

A google search on 'sm200d linux' turned up some useful info, but does
anyone know about 2.4/2.6 support?

Alternatively, for the stuff you want to do, a distribution with a 2.2
kernel (e.g. Debian Woody) would work fine. The only problem will be
when they stop doing security updates in a few months/years (and it
might require a bit of config-file editing rather than pretty point
and click).
