I'd like to see any MSCE who really has a clue about serious IT admin at one
site I work with.

Mostly Windows, but on Novell, with UNIX (several flavours), Cray T3E, Linux
cluster, VAX cluster, etc...

We couldn't afford to get an inappropriate staff member to support these, &
skills are NOT portable enough to enable someone with a typical mainframe
support background useful without months or years of upskilling. Been there....

I have found over the last 20 or so years that IT roles are increasingly
specialised. Smaller companies/operators still need generalists but the large
computer centres seem to prefer teams of specialists. 

But any advice on CV's is worth looking at if you have a CV out there, any
little edge you can give yourself over the competition is worth having :-)
