That's exactly what I was trying to say when I said PDFs are
difficult to directly modify and that that is a GOOD thing, only I had
very limited time available...
Nobody has really brought up the two main problems with Word documents in
my mind - the macro virus risk, and the ability to uncover data from
earlier revisions or even previously edited documents by examining the
Word document file directly. Occassionally you see a PDF with a quote or
telephone number 'blacked' out with a black rectangle - it's not hard to
find out what's under there if the original text hasn't been removed, but
the problem isn't anywhere near as bad as it can be with Word documents.
And then there's the way Word can store version history ('track changes')
in the file itself...
