The last install I did - stable - from a recent iso put on 2.2 and
made my laptop unhappy.  The first thing I did was dist-upgrade to
testing and tried to put a 2.4 on.  It was still very unhappy.  So I
put FC2 on it (slow) and replaced that with current Gentoo.  It's
okay, not nearly as happy as I'd like it, but happier than others. :)

Granted, when I complained to my friend about it, his response was
"well fix it!"  *sigh*  Yeah, I just didn't feel like futzing with it.
