[wellylug] Gnome & KDE reinstall

i am having problems with my Gnome, (KDE session is fine)
in gnome session the running programs are not displayed in the 
taskbar.. and if i continously press the del or backspace in textboxes (text editors, browser address bar, form fields etc) it only deletes one character 

i was thinking of reinstalling the whole gui (gnome, kde...) and exactly how do i do that i am running SuSe 10
