>Hi All,
>Does anyone on this list connect to the internet through Linux using a dial up modem with KPPP? I have bought a new PCMIA card modem. It is a full hardware modem and Kubuntu detects it correctly. When I try to connect, however, it dials and then fails during the last part of the connection.

I have what may be a similar problem with Ubuntu (5.04 or 5.10) and
kppp. I can dial in to IHUG using my external modem (not PCMCIA) and
when I get there /sbin/ifconfig shows that ppp is connected, and gives
me IHUG's IP number which I can ping okay, but Firefox finds nothing. In
other distros with kppp (Mandriva2005, 2006, Suse10.0) there's no
problem. That's why I never use Ubuntu.
