I can't speak for him, but I do know that many tech lists are archived for 
search.  We don't want to waste time or disk space archiving transient 
advertisements - they aren't technical solutions people might want to google 
for.

Sensible.  When I'm in someone's house, I follow their rules.  I can put up 
and maintain my own list if I want something else - that's the Linux way - 
want it different, do it yourself.
