Well, I'd say go for a camera you like first and consider the card type 
second - a particular camera will (probably) only accept one type of 
card. Most likely the camera will 'just go' with Linux, but if not you 
can get card readers for all types.

I bought a multi-card USB hub thingee from Dick Smith for, I think, 
about $20.
