[wellylug] ekiga problems

i'm trying to set up ekiga on an ubuntu (7.10) box.

when i try to register an account the message is "failed: not acceptable". 
googling, that seems to be the error i'd expect if it's trying to register 
with a private IP address (usually caused by a failure to traverse NAT), 
but looking at the traffic (with ngrep) i can see that it's using the 
correct public IP address to register with.

from my freebsd box i can register accounts without a glitch. the router 
on my LAN doesn't give the bsd box preferential treatment for anything.

any ideas?
