File sharing is different to internet sharing. You don't need extra software.
Try not to give up. Like most of these things it is just a few
commands in the right place and it goes.
My advice for the Ubunutu machine is correct that all you need to to
is change the gateway and route so the machine looks at the XP
machine. Search for those on your network manager. Slightly trickier
will be to get the XP sharing but I think it is built in to the
network manager.
I'm in Khandallah on 4796123 if you want a demonstration or verbal
help. I also have an external modem to borrow if you go that way.
