Hey y'all...
I agree with Jethro, in that it would be nice if 100% Linux related jobs & such could be advertised here, but as Donald & Ewen say, if you start accepting advertising of any type, it gets very difficult to draw the line on what is not appropriate, when is an advert only 99% Linux, at what threshold do we (or does a moderator) decide a message is inappropriate?
So I'm happy with the no advertising approach as the easiest solution. There are indeed plenty of places where Linux related advertising is permitted, even encouraged, from from TradeMe to NZOSS.
We seem to revisit this question every year or two, and so far have always come to the same conclusion: stick with Ewen & zero advertising.
The wellylug buy/sell list was set up to provide somewhere for such advertising for LUG members, the lack of use & subscriptions to this list suggest that the vast majority of wellylug members do not see any need to have advertising available on a LUG list.
